Jul 29, 2013 - Happy Pioneer Day

Dear Family,

Well this week we taught 21 lessons. It was a great week. I really feel like I have been giving it my all. The members here really help the work.  The member that I will highlight is Jorge. He is a boss. I really love him coming out with me. I think he is one of my favorite members yet.  He speaks Spanish and some English, and I really like the man.  He has helped me learn Spanish really well. So this 24th, the stake put on a stake party and like 1000 people came. It was great. I can't believe that it was as big as it was.

Well this week, I found out that I need to get a new suit because I have lost 8 inches off my waist and all my belts and pants look super funny, but I have a 6 pack.  I can jump and grab the 10" rim, and I have never been so healthy. This is no help from my companion Elder Carpenter. He tries to get me to eat sugar and drink pop. I stay strong and don't do either though.  Elder Carpenter has helped me through the hardest part of my mission so far.  I was praying for me to be challenged on my mission, I just wasn't expecting a challenging experience like this one.  He really cared and loved me on July 8th when I cursed through my sombrero and ran outside, knelt in the grass and cried and then the sprinklers came on.  I'm fine now. I have my plan. I will follow it and I will succeed.  I will do my part.

My investigators:
Veronica:  We have been teaching her for a while now. She is great. She has come on a church tour and to a few church activities. I really hope things play out into a baptism
Tammy: We have yet to be able to see her this week. I'm kinda scared for her. If you can pray for her to make good decisions that would be great.
Isiais:  He is super skeptical, now that we had a great church experience
Rogan: We met him, and he had been to English class. He thinks that Mormons are good people. We have a meeting with him tomorrow.
Alfredo: He is a 15 year old and has been meeting with missionaries. His dad is a good guy, but yeah, they kinda fight a bit. So I hope he is OK with his family.  He really liked Sampson and his super strongness.
Gabriel: We have had some really great lessons. His fellowships are great. I really enjoy him.  He is mad that he can't play me in street fighter 2, but I think that he will be doing well soon.
My friend Marie: Don't want to use a last name or too many details, but she was about make a big decision, and we had a chat about temples and the spirit world and baptisms for the dead, and she decided to not make a big decision till she had thought through it for a bit.

So the temple is a special place that I really enjoy. I was able to help someone this week make the choice to go to the temple to help her have peace in her life.  I would love to point out a great scripture this week, 2 Nephi 2:23. It is by grace that we (you and I) are saved, after(now and at judgment) all we (me and Christ) can do.

I know that my Savior lives. He helps me everyday. I would encourage all to turn to him.  He will help you be directed by the spirit and lead you if you let him.  I know that he will help us get what we want, if it is what He wants.  The trick is wanting the right thing for the right reason at the right time.

Love you all,

Elder Pinegar
