| Mother's Day Skype with Elder Pinegar May 13, 2013 Mattawa, WA |
No letter this week--just a note from Mom about our visit: We had the great pleasure of talking with Elder Pinegar on Mother's Day. First off--he looked great!! He just got transferred to a little town an hour south of Wenatchee, WA called Mattawa, WA. He is serving in the small fruit farming towns of Washington—but told us he might have his mission changed in July to the Kennewick, WA mission that includes the north-western part of Oregon—down to Mt. Hood and Wala Wala. It’s a beautiful part of the country with weather a bit more temperate than Utah. He’s been out almost 8 months and absolutely loves his mission. He told us on Mother’s Day that he feels quicker, smarter, and better in every way since becoming a missionary. His biggest fear is that he will lose those feelings and abilities he has a missionary when he comes home---even so much that he’s begging his mission president and stake president for an extension—which he told us they rarely do. He had a list of things prepared so he wouldn't forget anything--with big shout outs to Andrew Livingston and Josh Flygare. He also was visibly moved when he heard his friend's brother was active in the church again and doing very well. He said he had prayed for him daily that he would be able to beat his addictions. He couldn’t tell us much about his new area—except that it was gorgeous because he had only arrived in Mattawa, WA a few days before and was looking forward to some serious cherry eating early this summer. He did tell us he’s lost 41 pounds since starting his mission and feels better than ever. (He looks a lot younger to us).

Nick was able to talk to Alex after an entire year. They tried skyping with video--but ended up just chatting on the phone for a few minutes. We're sure it was a great reunion.
