December 10, 2012 - Teaching & the Atonement

Dear Family,
So this week went well. I did really well at trying to be obedient.  I am teaching a couple families they are great.  I love them lots. My comp tries really hard to be a good trainer. He really appreciated the calsatines (socks). I spelled that wrong ask dad what I was trying to say. Dear dad you need to write me in Spanish so I can practice translating. So send me a letter in Spanish.

I am teaching a lot about repentance. I am really glad that I have had the opportunity to study about repentance and how the atonement works in our lives. Some people don't understand. They think that even if we do all we can to be changed, that we cannot change who we are, what we like, and what we want out of life. I can solemnly testify that we can. We can change. We can become new creatures, new people through Christ and his atonement. The enabling power of the atonement is the single greatest thing that has happened in my life and in all our lives.  I am now teaching a former gang member who has had lots of problems, and he risked his life today so he can change.  I am seeing his countenance  change and his faith grow. It helps my faith grow.

I have found so many great scriptures in Alma 29 and in Alma 9.  I encourage you all to read 5 chapters a day, then the BOM makes so much more sense because with the story behind the writing it is so much easier to see the consequences of poor choices.  I love you all and God.  My comp is great.  Ask Liza how I feel about him and thanks for keeping my blog up so well. I love you.

 Peace

Your friend,

Elder Pinegar
